Stargate Universe: Awakening

Last week I said:

In the previews for the next episode, they appear to have located the ship that was going through and seeding planets with Stargates.  It seems kind of convenient that they got to Destiny as it was nearing the seed ship…

They clarified this week to say that it’s just one of the seed ships; Destiny apparently decided to make a pit stop since it was in the neighborhood.

What’s not so clear is why Rush is being so increasingly erratic.  He can’t possibly think it’s best that nobody knows about the ship’s control room, but people are noticing when he’s inexplicably gone, and he gives easily disproven lies when they ask about it (“I stopped by the mess”).  Worse, one moment he’s hoping nobody will notice the derelict vessel’s enormous power source, and the next moment he’s tripping over himself making sure he’s the one doing the power transfer.  It leaves me wondering if he would have sabotaged the process if the aliens hadn’t shown up.

These aliens are another nonsensical mystery, too.  They had set up their pod thingies to turn on 犀利士
when the ship powered up.  They know how to operate the ship, which means it’s probably not the first ship of Ancient design they’d seen.  The seed ship had lots of energy, and the SG crew didn’t have enough time to do any meaningful repairs.  Why would the aliens just sit there for someone to show up, only to immediately kick off the newcomers?

This show is making less and less sense.
