Stargate Universe – Light

So… uh…  I guess I have to start by hiding the rest behind a “read more” link.

Last week, I said this:

For all he knows, the ship is deliberately heading for the star in order to (somehow magically) replenish its fuel or energy reserves.

And of course, that’s exactly what happened.  Was that really worth an entire episode?

One thing that did blindside me, though, was the relationship between the Senator’s daughter and the one Air Force guy (not Young, but the other pilot).  They’ve barely spoken two words to each other on the ship, but suddenly they’re sleeping together when death looms?  I thought he was sleeping with some military girl in the first episode…  I guess I was wrong.

The exaggerated suspicion at the end – where Young seems obsessed with the idea that Rush knew what would happen – was kind of lame, too.

    It’s a Pudd^D^D^DStar Jumper. You called it.

I couldn’t care less about who’s poking each other. When did scifi turn into soap operas in space? BSG had a little bit but it was tolerable and actually relevant to the plot. Maybe it was DS9…
